The one that dies with the most hobbies wins, right? My occupational therapist and recreation therapists agreed heartily that learning a musical instrument would help with recovery and help minimize some of the nagging problems that haven’t quite cleared since my concussion. This is the best excuse that I’ve ever had to pick up a hobby. Playing guitar is fun, it’s a very large challenge for me but not too difficult, and I had a great instructor, Nathan Layh, at the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party music camp at the beginning of August. I do notice that it takes longer for me to remember shapes, often knowing them in the evening and then have them seemingly disappear as I sleep. I’m sure the answer is as it is with all other things: practice.
