Happy place // Grateful for this day, Indigenous Peoples Day in many places and Thanksgiving Day here in Canada. The last two years have had challenges but have also held incredibly healing. I was suffering such burn out at the end of 2019 after a surgery that didn’t go quite right and a toxic work environment that was about to get worse with a reorg that would only add to the overwhelm. I couldn’t figure art-life balance and boundaries were shadows. All I had was exhaustion and tension. . Now I’m in a new work team that feels like a group hug even while supporting healthcare frontlines during this pandemic. My own health is managed by two great outpatient clinics. My art is moving into a place of joy, and the artist community I’m part of is a gift in itself. I live in the beauty that is Treaty 7 territory and I’ve made it more a priority to explore this area and the history this year. My kid is living the amazing tween spirit life and this partner of mine keeps me laughing with the type of belly laughter that comes from my toes. And I have these art supplies and a pile of sketchbooks, and a line of freshly thrown bowls waiting to have things carved upon them. . So much to be thankful for. . . #grateful
